NOTE: This post was written on my iPod while I was in Queensland, but had to be manually transferred to my computer due to an upload error. It was originally entitled Antonia, after the song I was listening to at the time, but I changed it because I realised how silly it was, and replaced it with another equally silly title – only this one is relevant. Sort of. Can you work it out?

ANOTHER NOTE: I realised that Aurum Ora was also a silly name, and so changed it again.

Just so that you know, the title of this post has nothing to do with anything, other than it is the name of the Motion City Soundtrack song I am listening to at the moment, and I need a non-boring title. Hmm, I should post my iTunes Top 25 some time. Anyway, this is going horribly off track. The point of this post is to talk about my holiday on the Gold Coast.

Just so you know, I am currently sitting on a chair in our unit, but this won’t get posted until I get back to Melbourne.

It is amazing. I am having so much fun. We are staying at the place that we stay every time we come up, Currumbin Sands. Currumbin sands is made up of three-story apartment buildings, which are really nice, not horrible like lots of apartments. It is kinda like staying in a holiday house, so you don’t have to be our by a certain time or whatever. But I digress…

We are in a ground floor “Beach” apartment, which is good, because it has stairs from the balcony onto the small grassy area in front of the beach. Currumbin Sands has two pool areas, one in the middle and one around the back which is a lot less used. We used to call that one “Pirates’ Cove” when we were younger for some reason. Anyway, the main pool enclosure has a a big cold pool with a waterfall, a heated pool (soo nice) and a spa, and the area around the back has a cold pool and a spa. This is getting boring, isn’t it? Sorry, but most of our time is spent in the pools.

The apartments are in front of the beach and the estuary, which are both really great.

On to interesting stuff!!!

We flew up with Jetstar on the 1st Jan. The only problem we had was having to drag all the luggage from the front of Terminal 1 to the back of Terminal 3, as Dad dropped us off out the front of the airport to check in while he parked the car, but at the wrong end, not having flown Jetstar before.

When we got up here, we spent ages shopping for stuff, because unfortunately we have to eat to stay alive. By that afternoon, we had already been to the pool.

We did very little for the next week, and then caught up with some relatives for a couple of days. The day after that, the 6th, Gizmolio came up to stay with us for a while. We picked him up at the airport, and by the afternoon we were all swimming in the pool… again.

The day after, Dad, my brother, Gizmolio and I went to Dreamworld. Last time we went (c.2003), it was terrible. This time it was brilliant. We went on the Log Flume, where we got completely soaked, the Runaway Reptar Coaster, where I watched about half of the Rugrats Movie while standing in line (I love that movie…), the Cyclone, which was soo much fun – I would do it over and over if I could, and Gizmolio and I went on the Tower of Terror, which I only went on because I didn’t stop to think about what I was doing, even in the hour long queue. It was… less scary than expected, actually.

After we’d done all that, we went into WhiteWater World, Dreamworld’s water park. The wave pool was fun, as was the Nick Bucket, which dumped water all over you – I swear those little kids should have been crushed by it. Gizmolio and I eventually decided to start queuing up for the “B.R.O”, which normal people would call the Blue Ringed Octopus Racer. It’s one of those eight lane water slides, so we could race each other to the bottom. The queue was relatively short (read: 15 minutes), and Gizmolio and I had a lengthy discussion about how many tattoos people in Queensland have. Seriously, there are heaps. What do they think will happen when they get old? The tattoos will get all wrinkley! Eeewwww!!!Anyway, the ride was fun, but Gizmolio won. Grr.

Next we went over to a green water tunnel ride, which used four-person floaty things. Because of this, a nice couple said they would ride with us because there were two of us and two of them. You get pushed down the tube by jets of water, and a couple of seconds later you fall down a really steep section and into a big bowl, which you spin around a couple of times before falling down the hole in the centre and into a pool. Lots of fun.

A couple of days later, Gizmolio and I went surfing. Not real surfing, just learning, but we got to stand up on the boards and all that, so we had heaps of fun. I couldn’t believe that I could do it, partly due to the failure that was the Year 9 surf day…

On the day that Gizmolio was due to fly out, we went to the local SLSC, which has all-you-can-eat breakfast from Friday to Sunday. It was tasty. I poured maple syrup over everything, as I am wont to do. It makes things taste really good, don’t bag it.

Gizmolio flew out that afternoon, with only a short, overestimated, delay – they said half an hour, but it was only ten minutes. After that, we drove to a shopping centre, where we bought two gutter cleaning scoops and a trowl. Why, you ask? Because they are really good for building sandcastles. Yes, I love building sandcastles. They are soo fun! We built a good castle. We built a good castle with them – well, more of a made up seal-looking creature.

It is now today, duh, so I am about to go to the pool. I might blog again later if anything interesting happens. Adiós, amigos. Did I spell that write? (That error was not, in fact, intentional, but I have left it in because it is funny).

ONE LAST NOTE: After this, we had about a four days left, I think, and in that time:

  • We went to Byron Bay for the day.
  • My brother got stung by a Bluebottle near Byron Bay.
  • I found some cool blue… things, about 5mm long, looking like swimming feathery things. They were soo cool – I might post photos some time.
  • We saw some cool metalwork statues, etc., at this shop. Very expensive and soo cool.
  • We came home.
